Aro collection by Rikke Frost

Rikke Frost has shared her thoughts on the Aro series.
The Aro series was created with an ambition to unite function and form in a harmonious and inviting expression, where each element in the series enters into a natural and honest dialogue with each other. The circular detail that recurs in both the legs and bases of tables and storage furniture visually ties the series together and adds a character-defining feature that emphasises the rounded and soft nature of the design.

In the rectangular tables, I have worked to make the pull-out function itself an integrated and aesthetic part of the design. The pull-out is not hidden, but rather emphasised as a beautiful and natural component in the geometry of the table. This creates an elegant visibility of the function – a kind of honest gesture that emphasises the flexibility of the furniture without compromising the visual expression.

The storage furniture is created with a focus on both functionality and tactility. The sliding doors slide effortlessly aside using a solid wood round cane handle – a handle that is not only practical, but also provides a subtle, sensuous grip that you want to touch. The top plate is beautifully framed by the sides of the furniture, which both protects and frames the objects you choose to place there. The frame also allows for material contrasts and colour choices that can be adapted to the room and mood.

The Aro chair is made for movement and presence. Its characteristic circular back allows you to swivel naturally in the chair and still be well supported. The back invites movement and flexibility – and the chair is easy to move around, both because of its light weight and the way you intuitively grip it by the backrest. It’s a chair you both sense and use with your body.”
